I am currently collaborating with researchers at the School of Biology on the design and development of a number of algorithms as a module of a Data Mining intelligent environment for revealing structures of complex biological systems using Bayesian Networks.

Senior Research Fellow, Department of Academic Cardiology

I held the post of Research Fellow at Department of Academic Cardiology, and was involved in a research to model and statistically analyze large retrospective (TEN-HMS) and prospective (Hull Telecare Project) data sets related to the home tele-monitoring of heart failure patients. My duties included designing databases for the capture and integration of data with existing clinical data sets and providing innovative statistical analysis of survival and hospitalization outcomes. I also designed and developed a suite of algorithms for detection and statistical analysis of survival data to predict events using MATLAB. This research, under the supervision of Prof. John Clealand, explored the relationship between weight changes and acute de-compensation in heart failure patient.

The aim of the project is to improve Operations and services at the Jabel Ali port and prepare for a massive expansion in IT services planned for 2012.
The Project involves:
  • Analysis and critique Operations and services at the port.
  • Design of a mobile, web-based application to monitor ships positioning at the docks, and reflect scheduled moves.
  • Design of a simulation to the operations in the port to analize possible improvement in container storage procedures.
  • Design and develop a medical information management system for the Port’s hospital.

Project Manager (Successful Grant Application)

The project involves localization of VISTA, MS Office 2007. The project was being implemented by a group of 30 students, senior linguists, Microsoft and experts from industry. The project was the first in a series of planned collaboration projects between Microsoft and The American University in Dubai.

The project involved the design and development of 3-tier web based application and a suite of utility programs for The Oracle Academic Initiative in Dubai using J2EE, Oracle 10g and JSP. This included the design and development of an Object Oriented Database and a web based application to monitor the activities of Oracle Academic Initiative program and services in Asia and Africa.

The research involved the development of an intelligent object-oriented analysis environment "ARDA” supported by an expert system for reliability data analysis. The expert system was developed in APL2 and the front end, data entry data retrieval, graphics and reporting facilities were developed in C++. A version of the system’s inference was also developed in SMALLTALK to compare its performance with that developed in APL2.

Sep 2007     Present Project Manager DP World, Dubai ports, Dubai. – Successful Grant Application

The aim of the project is to improve Operations and services at the Jabel Ali port and prepare for a massive expansion in IT services planned for 2012. The Project involves
  • Analyse and critique Operations and services at the port.
  • Design a web based application to monitor ships positioning at the docks, and reflect scheduled moves.
  • Design of a simulation to the operations in the port to analyse possible improvement in container storage procedures.
  • Design and develop a medical information management systems for Port employees
July 2007 – Sep 2009     Senior Research Fellow - Department of Cardiology – Hull University

Currently I hold the post of Research Fellow at Department of Academic Cardiology, Hull University and involved in a research to organise and statistically analyse large retrospective (TEN-HMS) and prospective (Hull Telecare Project) data sets related to the home telemonitoring of heart failure patients. My duties include to design appropriate databases for the capture and integration of data with existing clinical data sets and provide innovative software solutions for visualization and statistical analysis of survival and hospitalisation outcomes. I am responsible for the design and development of a suite of detection and statistical analysis of survival data algorithms to predict events. This research under the supervision of Prof. John Cleland, explores the relationship between weight changes and acute decompensation in heart failure patients

The project involves localization of VISTA, MS Office 2007 . The project is being implemented by a group of 30 students, senior linguists, Microsoft and experts from industry. The project is the first in a series of planned collaboration projects between Microsoft and The American University in Dubai.

The system is will include knowledge on aircraft components design and statistical tests to evaluate their performance. My responsibility design and build the system in C++.

The works involved the design and development of an Object Oriented database for the menopause clinic using the database builder Omnis 7 on the Apple Mackintosh computer, to design and develop a case management system for the menopause clinic involving a "Finger Prints" facility which is a security aspect to protect patients data, and also the design of a client server network to interface to database products on ORACLE on two laboratories servers and the hospital's mainframe utilizing Omnis 7 integrated development environment as a front end to a SQL database server. This involved the use of a graphical user interface to perform data entry, data retrieval, and DBA functions.

This involved the design, development and maintenance of computer simulated models for water purification experiments. The project was started at Strathclyde University on a VAX machine using FORTRAN.
